Senior End of the Year/Graduation Information

The following information is an update about senior material collection/retrieval as well as graduation-related events. You will also be receiving information related to graduation in traditional mail.

On Tuesday, May 12th, from 8:00 AM-11:00 AM:

Seniors are to come to the west side of the high school and cars will be directed to line up near the weight room exterior doors. You should bring the following items: textbooks, Chromebook, Chromebook charger, Chromebook case, band instruments, library books, athletic uniforms not already returned to the coach, and any other items belonging to the school.

After turning in all of these items, students will be given a ticket to pick up their personal items from their locker, their senior t-shirt, and a fabulous Project Graduation raffle prize (see video message from Mr. Moore)! These items may be picked up on the east side of the high school in the circle drive.

All students are to please remain in your cars and follow the social distancing regulations. IL Health Department recommends that passengers within vehicles are those that reside with you, if any.

On May 16th -17th from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM:

Graduates are welcome to participate in an individual graduation ceremony according to the following guidelines:

  • Graduates report during their assigned day & time according to alphabet (see below)

  • Graduates come in cap/gown/tassel and with any honors provided by the school (ie. NHS cords, gold tassel for top 10)

  • Graduates may be accompanied by parents or legal guardians only. Parents as a result of extended families may be included, but are limited up to 4 parents/legal guardians only.

  • Graduates & parents will need to wear masks while present in the building. If you do not come with a mask, one will be provided for you. Gloves and hand sanitizer will also be available. Graduates will be allowed to remove their mask for a photo opportunity.

  • There will be a processional that follows social distancing guidelines. This ceremony will follow the ISBE recommendations of an "Individual Ceremony at School". Students will be announced, will be provided with their diploma (with no hand to hand contact), will have two photo opportunities provided by the school, and will be video-recorded. Students & parents will be provided with specific guidance from staff throughout the processional process to follow safety regulations.

According to your assigned day/time, you are asked to enter the west parking lot off of Bell St. At that point, you will be directed to the appropriate traffic route & parking accommodations prior to entering the building. This process will take time and will require patience. However, our goal is to allow for all seniors the opportunity to walk across the stage as graduates and turn their tassels as a milestone in their lives.

*To allow us to plan accordingly, we are asking that all students RSVP his/her plans to attend via this Google form no later than May 11th - Graduation Ceremony RSVP Form. After May 11th, adjustments may be made to the schedule above due to the amount of participants.

As communicated previously, we will still be hosting a Virtual Commencement Ceremony which will include traditional aspects such as speeches, recognition of Valedictorian & Salutatorian, recognition of students entering the military, etc. We would like to have an individual photo of each senior with their yard sign in their cap & gown to incorporate into the virtual ceremony. The deadline to send this photo to is this Friday. If we do not receive a photo, we will need to use the headshot taken by Interstate Photos in the fall. Video footage of students walking across the stage on May 16th-17th will also be added to the virtual ceremony.

Also, we are still planning to hold a traditional graduation on July 19th as long as regulations from the State and IL Health Department allow.

We are very grateful for ISBE listening to educators across the country and revisiting the previous regulations that cancelled all graduation ceremonies to allow us to celebrate this momentous event.
